Just last week in June the heat just got turned on down here for Anna Maria Island summer time fishing. All in all fishing remains really good for Snook, Tarpon, and Trout. Redfish are still allusive some days and all you want others. The past few weeks we have had some beautiful weather, light winds for Tarpon fishing. Although the weather has been great most days the Tarpon have not cooperated well. We have had to work really hard for just a few bites. Only capitalizing on a few everyday. Which has still been good. Most of my customers only want to catch one a piece then they are ready to do something else. We start early morning off the beaches of Anna Maria island for best of luck and to beat a little of the heat.
June is one of the best months for Snook fishing on Anna Maria island. Snook are all in the passes and near the mouths of every bay spawning on all the big tides. When you find them it has not been hard to catch 50 or 60 Snook in a hour on Anna Maria island. Ranging from 22 inches to 28 inches. A few mixed being in the mid 30 inches.
Trout fishing has been spectacular. Trout hanging around on grass patches in Tampa bay in 8-15feet of water. While Trout fishing we are still catching a mixed bag of mackerel, flounder, snapper, and the occasional cobia. they all make for a great fish fry.
