In the past 3 weeks of Fishing Anna Maria Island post Irma has been some of the best I have seen in a long time. Here around Anna Maria Island and Tampa bay area we saw 60-70mph winds and just a lot of rain. With that being said Anna Maria Island and Tampa Bay are beautiful as ever going into fall 2018.
On to fishing. On to October 1st the water temperature is around 85 degrees here and with all the fresh water we have had run into all are creeks and rivers it has really concentrated the Snook, Redfish, and Trout. it has been fall fishing at its finest. Bait is everywhere from the beaches of Anna Maria Island to almost every shore line Tampa Bay. So with a live well full of shiner/whitebait on most charters the last few weeks we will pull up I will throw a bat full of bait out and my clients have been catching slot over slot Snook, slot and over slot redfish, and some really nice trout all in the same spot one after another. it has been exciting for me to watch this because fishing Anna Maria Island is usually good but this has been phenomenal.
I am fishing around the mouths of the rivers and creeks of Tampa Bay, Sarasota Bay, and around Anna Maria Island. in the fall I like to fish around the large schools of mullet in all of these areas in 2 to 4 foot of water. on the lower tides of the day fish out off of all the outside sand bars about 200 to 400 yards off the shore lines of Tampa Bay. that’s where you will find the big schools of redfish off Tampa Bay in the fall.
October and November fishing Anna Maria Island post Irma are some of the best months to go inshore fishing.
